The magnetic bases are very handy to keep the board stuck together. I needed only one roll for every color with the exception of two transparent blue rolls for all the sea hexes. I did use white for the lumber hexes because the design required so much details (see Painting section of this post) You can also opt to save some money and purchase a few rolls of white and paint everything. This would require only shading and detailing and make the pieces more durable. Painting takes the most time by far so you should consider buying different base colors for each style of land hex and player sets. This set is made almost entirely of PLA with exception of some ABS I had laying around. You still will need to account for the longest road and largest army cards, as well as the city development calendars which I have not seen sold separately.Īll of the parts in this build are linked to the original Thingaverse “thing” but please comment if any links are found broken. The Catan Shop does sell replacement cards if you are looking to purchase just the cards and print the rest. If you’re crazy enough about Catan to build a 3D set, you probably have some retail sets already. When you add the 5-6 player expansions for each of these you end up with 6 retail boxes! Building the set shown here will allow you to play all of the smaller board variations as well, should you decide to play a more basic Settler’s game.ĭesigners have also developed the models for the “ Traders & Barbarians” and “ Explorers & Pirates” which won’t be covered here. The first thing to consider is what size game do you want to build? I often play six player setups consisting of “ The Settlers of Catan” “ Cities & Knights” and “ Seafarers” expansions. Since JAWong’s contribution in 2012, many other talented designers have submitted stunning models to enhance and expand upon the 3D Catan collection. This post serves as a build guide for those wishing to fabricate their own custom 3D version of the uber famous board game. I've long dreamt of getting a 3D printer and making my own 3D Catan board, so now I'm doing it! And I decided to make it GW2 themed.Upon first gaze of JAWong’s amazing original Catan tiles I knew I had to build a set of my own. The idea is that the player gets their 5 settlements, 4 cities, but also 1 capital, which is like a super city. Hi, maybe someone can direct me to catan 3d print files. I am designing the capital pieces to be able to take a small cell battery and be lit up with hobby LEDs from the inside. I am looking for a base game model what is compatible with plastic version of game figures. It would be good if it had compatibility with knighs expansion. I decided to start with the most difficult city first - The Black Citadel Here is our selection of the best LEGO STL files, all these beautiful creations are from the 3D file library Cults and are perfectly 3D printable. This collection includes many free 3D files that will allow you to 3D print at home all kinds of LEGO: Lego City, Lego Minjago, Lego Technic, Lego Starwars, Lego Friends. The CR-6 Max 3d printer features the same innovative leveling system as the CR-6 SE, using a force-based sensor. This small brick became quite naturally the favorite toy of the makers. The Max will simply touch the nozzle to the bed at specific points, and a strain sensor on the hot end will detect the exact point at which the nozzle touches the glass. (I can't figure out how to imbed images - please let me know how it's done so I don't have a janky external link!) This system is nice for a number of reasons. It's designed with a hollow pipe from the base to wire the LEDs up, the front spheres are going to be transparent resin to allow them to glow (inserted via pegs), and the back plate is removable to give you access to positioning the LEDs before gluing things shut. It will be designed to print at about 1.5" wide and 2" tall when all is said and done. I like the catan game called 'kolonisten' in dutch very much. Not all of the detail work is complete on this first model. This is also the reason for me to print some game atributes for it It turned out very well, in my opionion.
